As Nigeria celebrates 65 years of independence, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman (Ɗangaladiman Ningi), has called on citizens to act responsibly and avoid any actions that could disrupt the nation’s peace and development.
He emphasized that while prayers for the country are important, it is equally essential for leaders to fulfill the promises they have made to the people.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, the Speaker highlighted the need for Nigerians to represent their families, communities, and states positively by rejecting unethical behavior.
“Our dear country, Nigeria, has long been a beacon of hope in Africa, looked up to by many nations. Over the past 65 years of independence, the country has witnessed several transformations, but more needs to be done, especially in areas of security and the economy, to make Nigeria more attractive to investors. Citizens must refrain from unethical conduct and serve as worthy representatives of their backgrounds,” he stated.
He also urged citizens to continue offering sincere prayers for leaders at all levels, reminding those in authority of their obligations to the people.
The Speaker pointed out that while prayers are crucial, leaders must also produce tangible results.
He further stressed the importance of unity and collective action to enhance the standard of living across the country, stating that key sectors like health, education, agriculture, security, and infrastructure should remain the government’s top priorities.
Concluding, he offered prayers for Nigeria’s progress and expressed hope that leaders would exceed the expectations of the people.
