Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, declared on Friday that he has no presidential ambition and will not run against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Bello said he had begun campaigning against President Tinubu for 2027 in a statement signed by his media director, Michael Ohiare, expressing shock and surprise at a video clip of his 2022 rally.
The statement said, “We want to emphasize Bello’s unwavering commitment to President Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, even though we categorically state that he has no aspirations to become president in that year.”
“The indexes are not deceiving. Despite international problems, the President and his team have performed exceptionally well for the nation. He is deserving of well-meaning Nigerians’ support on the basis of merit.
“Nigerians ought to ignore the playful post suggesting a new presidential support rally for what it is: a rambling post from an unintelligent, confused mind.”
“The fabricators failed to notice that the banners on display prominently display the dates for 2022.” However, they anticipate that normal people won’t perceive this as the work of critics,” he said.
Ohiare called the post a “senseless post” made by nefarious individuals whose sole responsibility is to spread lies and deceive gullible Nigerians.
He claims that despite their best efforts, the fabricators have consistently failed miserably in their “bring him down at all costs” objective against Bello.
The director claimed that this was not the first instance of critics and fellow travelers spreading outright lies to incite the former governor to oppose President Tinubu.
However, this most recent tactic of uploading a 2022 rally and implying that it is simply taking place suggests nothing but pure mischief.
“Nigerians should be cautious of naive individuals who fabricate stories without thinking, merely to appease their paymasters,” he stated.
He emphasized that the post was a last-ditch attempt to generate a crisis when none existed.
