Bafana Bafana of South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has withdrawn Nigerian-born defender Ime Okon from his final team for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Okon was initially named in South Africa’s 55-man provisional roster by Broos two weeks ago. However, the star of Hannover of Germany was left off of the final 25-man roster that the Belgian tactician announced on Monday. The 21-year-old has played for Bafana Bafana five times. Okon was born to a South African mother and a Nigerian father. South Africa will open camp for the competition on December 8. Bafana will open their AFCON 2025 campaign against Angola on 22 December before facing Egypt four days later and completing out Group B against Zimbabwe on 29 December.
