Abdullahi Askira, the deputy speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, has declared his support for incumbent Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume and withdrawn from the Borno South senatorial race.
Askira has been a member of the Borno Assembly since 2007.
The statement was made by the deputy speaker on Thursday while speaking to reporters at the NUJ Press Centre in Maiduguri.
According to Askira, he made his choice following extensive consultation and careful consideration, especially in light of his meeting with Governor Babagana Zulum.
In the best interests of our wonderful party, the Southern Borno Zone, and Borno State as a whole, I have decided to formally withdraw from the race.
He continued, “In that spirit, I fully support and endorse Senator Muhammadu Ali Ndume to continue representing Southern Borno in the Senate.”
He urged his hordes of supporters in the zone’s nine local government districts to support Senator Ali Ndume, unite, and accept his decision in good faith.
In order to secure the APC’s victory in the general election of 2027, he also exhorted party loyalists to embrace consensus and cooperate.
