The office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has dismissed a media report alleging that he declared his intention to run for the governorship of Abia State in 2027.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker, Levinus Nwabugbiogu, demanded a retraction from the publishers, stating that the report was inaccurate and designed to mislead the public.
Nwabugbigi categorically described the report as “baseless, unfounded, and lacks credibility,” emphasizing that Kalu has made no declaration, either privately or publicly, regarding the 2027 Abia State governorship race.
The statement concluded, however, by noting that the Deputy Speaker’s “political family” will announce his intentions at the appropriate time.
