2027: The Benue government orders political appointees with nursing aspirations to step down

The government of Benue State has instructed all political appointees intending to seek elective office to formally declare their ambitions and step down from their current roles. In a directive signed by Deputy Governor Barr. Dr. Sam Ode, affected officials are required to submit written notices of the positions they seek along with their letters of resignation to his office no later than Thursday, December 18, 2025. This order follows increased political activity and interest in various offices leading up to the 2027 elections. These documents will be compiled and sent to Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia for final review. The administration noted that this requirement is intended to maintain organizational discipline, ensure transparency, and allow the government to remain focused on its development goals without political distractions.
