Ortom explains why he pushed against Atiku in 2023.

Samuel Ortom, a former governor of Benue state, has given an explanation for his opposition to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2023 presidential candidate.

Ortom claimed that by working against Atiku, he jeopardized his hopes of becoming a senator.

While answering questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show program on Thursday, he revealed this.

According to the former governor, the PDP ought to have permitted the president to move south in the interest of equity, justice, and fairness.

“And when members of the PDP unanimously agreed that the presidency should be in the north, we said no, it was wrong, because everyone knows here that for equity, fairness, and justice, we should allow the presidency in the north for eight years, and the south should go for eight years,” he stated.

“I’ve stated my stance already. I don’t wish to act hypocritically. I don’t want to act fake. And I made it very apparent why I opposed the PDP in the election of 2023. And I did say that it doesn’t matter if I don’t win the Senate election after serving as governor for around eight years. However, let them know that there are others who value equity, justice, and fairness.
