NNPP tells INEC to reject congresses led by Kwankwaso.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the public to disregard planned congresses by the Kwankwasiya Movement, describing the action led by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso as unconstitutional.
The party’s National Secretary, Mr. Ogini Olaposi, stated on Monday that the NNPP’s Court-ordered congresses have already been concluded.
The statement was issued in response to a letter from the Kwankwaso-led group informing INEC of its plans to hold fresh congresses and a convention for the NNPP, scheduled to run from November 25 to January 2026.
The NNPP asserted that the Kwankwasiya group lacks the authority to conduct congresses on its behalf, as the Memorandum of Association signed between the groups before the 2023 presidential election has expired.
The party reiterated that Kwankwaso, who was the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, along with some Kwankwasiya members, remain expelled from the party for alleged anti-party activities. The NNPP expressed “amazement” that Kwankwaso would insist on hijacking a party that provided him a platform for the 2023 election for free.
Finally, the party demanded that INEC fulfill its responsibilities by obeying court orders and uploading the authentic leadership of the NNPP on its website.
The NNPP is dealing with an ongoing factional crisis.
