A joint team composed of officials from the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Nigerian Red Cross Society has conducted an on-the-spot assessment of communities hit by recent flooding in Sokoto State.

A collaborative team, made up of the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Nigerian Red Cross Society, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of recent flood damage in the Gadanaji local government area of Sokoto State.
The flood caused widespread destruction to homes, farmlands, and critical public infrastructure in several communities, including Gada, Tsitse, and Gilbade.
The preliminary findings indicate that the disaster affected 2,814 people, resulted in 11 injuries, and caused the deaths of three people (two children and an elderly person). Numerous schools (Damarki Primary, Tunga Primary, Musuki Primary) and a mosque were also severely impacted, alongside hundreds of hectares of submerged farmland.
According to local council representatives, the purpose of the assessment is to guide the state government and humanitarian agencies in providing timely relief and planning for long-term recovery assistance.
