The Orlu Elders Council has formally endorsed the call for the release of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and voiced its support for the nationwide protest initiated by activist Omoyele Sowore.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Chairman, Professor F.C Duke, SAN, Vice Chairman, Professor A.U. Awuzie, and Secretary, Professor Protus Nathan Uzoma, the Council:
* Declared solidarity with Ohanaeze Ndigbo and all groups peacefully advocating for Kanu’s freedom, upholding the principle that “an injury to one is an injury to all.”
* Urged all Nigerians who share concerns over Kanu’s continued detention to join the planned protest.
* Encouraged participants to maintain a peaceful and non-violent approach, believing this will amplify their demands and demonstrate their commitment to democracy and the rule of law.
