According to a recent Ride-Hailing Safety Index Report, which was commissioned by Bolt and carried out by top research firm Ipsos, 81% of Nigerian travelers believe ride-hailing to be safer than other modes of transportation. This demonstrates the increasing confidence in app-based mobility and its contribution to improving individual safety in urban areas. According to Daily Trust, the study examined how safety perceptions affect transportation choices and was based on surveys carried out in many major cities, including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Ibadan.According to the survey, which was presented during a press conference organized by Bolt in Lagos, the main reasons Nigerians use ride-hailing services are convenience and safety. When public transportation seems risky, almost all respondents (96%) stated they choose ride-hailing, especially when traveling late at night, in unknown places, or after consuming alcohol. In addition, 94% have reserved transportation for friends or family to guarantee their safe return home. Because they provide a dependable and convenient substitute, two-thirds of respondents (66%) think ride-hailing apps contribute to a decrease in drunk driving.
