The Catholic Bishop of Kontagora, Bulus Yohanna, provided details regarding the ordeal of students taken from a Catholic private school in Niger State.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’, which was tracked by DAILY POST, he indicated that the kidnapping seems to be primarily driven by the demand for money (ransom) rather than having a religious basis.
He mentioned, “Some students who managed to escape during the incident reported hearing the captors state, ‘we should capture more students so that our financial gain increases.'”
He concluded, “This suggests that the core motive for this specific kidnapping is financial reward, not religious sentiment. It is difficult to ascertain the true intent of an ongoing, continuous activity until the perpetrator explicitly reveals their goals.”
