According to Ladipo Johnson, spokesman for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, is to blame for the anti-coalition movement against President Bola Tinubu.
Johnson suggested that Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the NNPP, might be in negotiations with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties, including the coalition, during an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Tuesday, according to Naija News.
However, because he spoke too quickly about the opposition alliance, Johnson claimed that El-Rufai is the main issue they are currently facing.
It would have been preferable, he argued, to finalize plans before announcing the coalition.
“It would be a lie if I stated that we are not speaking to anyone,” he said. “El-Rufai pushed too fast and began talking too hastily, which is the reason for the entire issue we are currently facing.
“All I’m saying is that there are some things you have to put off until the very last minute when you have a sitting government and you believe you want to take them on. They can more easily identify you and stop you when you come out to present your cards.
The various groups and movements in this country are all talking with each other. I have people who talk to me in my own little way and I’m sure Kwankwaso will be considering all sorts.
“It will depend on other things because Kwankwaso is very aware of the situation in the country, and each time he moved, he moved to the opposition.”
Speaking further, Johnson maintained that Kwankwaso is not about stomach infrastructure because he is principled, adding that President Bola Tinubu will pick the former Governor of Kano State over the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
“He’s not about stomach infrastructure,” he stated. “He left the ruling PDP when they were discouraged and formed the APC, and he left again when the APC took power.”
For him, it all comes down to principles; whether you agree with him or not, he is a moral individual. Would you transport Kwankwaso to Ganduje if you were Tinubu? What is the contribution of Ganduje?
