The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has stepped up its preparations for the opening of its state-of-the-art scanning facility at Lagos’ Apapa Port. The scanner is almost ready for use and is anticipated to improve cargo inspection and ease trade. 00:00/03:11 10 seconds DCG Oluyomi Adebakin, the Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), recently visited the Apapa Port to examine the scanning site as part of the last preparations.He urged the contractors to finish the remaining work within the allotted time and expressed pleasure with the progress accomplished thus far. The NCS is working to modernize its operations and increase cargo clearance efficiency, which includes the adoption of the scanner. The Service will be able to examine shipments more quickly and accurately thanks to the scanner, which will minimize the risk of smuggling and eliminate the need for physical inspections.
