The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has come under fire from former Labour Party vice presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed for revealing the 2023 election results at four in the morning.
Baba-Ahmed declared in an interview with Symfoni that it is illegal for an electoral umpire to announce results at four in the morning.
Additionally, Baba-Ahmed attacked President Bola Tinubu for running a government that resulted from that “criminal” act.
I frequently ask myself, “Why do we Nigerians just take everything to pass?” How can an INEC chairman sneakily announce the election results by 4am after promising African leaders, including Thabo Mbeki, the younger brother of Nelson Mandela, that he would do so by 9am?
“This person is a thief, right? Isn’t it dishonest of him to release the results by four in the morning? This is incorrect. You’re a Nigerian, see? I’m from Nigeria. I know I did my share, though. It has passed despite my best efforts to stop it.
And how can you be in charge of a government that was declared at four in the morning? At four in the morning, who works? Criminals! A criminal INEC is one that releases a result at four in the morning. “Trust me,” he said.
