Ben Murray-Bruce, a former senator of Bayelsa East, has forecasted that Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, will eventually become the Governor of Osun State.
Murray-Bruce expressed in a recent episode of his Common Sense series that Davido would be successful in politics, considering the political background of the Adeleke family.
He said, “David Adeleke, the global phenomenon better known as Davido, is undeniably an international artist and a true Nigerian superstar. He stands as one of Nigeria’s most valuable cultural exports. However, beneath the surface of this music icon lies a side that many may not be aware of.
He acknowledges that he is a political animal with strong convictions and a well-defined political ideology. When you take into account the DNA of the Adeleke family, this revelation—brought to light through a personal discussion—should perhaps not be completely unexpected. Senator Ademola Adeleke, his uncle, serves as the Governor of Osun State. In addition, during the military regime of Ibrahim Babangida, his uncle Isiaka Adeleke held the position of Governor of Osun State.
Considering all of these, the thought that Davido himself could one day aspire to become the Governor of Osun State seems more like a potential trajectory, especially if his political inclinations are nurtured and strategically channelled. Here in Nigeria, there is a growing sentiment that more entertainers should consider seeking political positions. Their ability to connect with the different demographics could inject fresh perspectives and dynamism into the political landscape. Davido, if you run, I predict you will win.”
