Jamie Vardy, the striker for Leicester City, will depart from the club after this season.
On Thursday, The Foxes announced that Vardy will leave the King Power Stadium after 13 years.
The striker, who is 38 years old, was brought in from Fleetwood Town (a non-league team) in 2012.
He departs as Leicester’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer, with 198 goals from 498 appearances.
During the 2015-16 Premier League season, Vardy scored 24 goals as Leicester secured their inaugural top-tier championship.
Vardy expressed in a video shared by Leicester on social media, “To the supporters of Leicester, I’m heartbroken this day is arriving, but I knew it would come eventually.”
“I’ve had 13 amazing years at this club, filled with success and some challenges, but mostly it’s been a series of highs.
“I’m heartbroken that the time has finally come to end things, but it does seem to be the right moment.”
