Members of the Bafarawa Akida Movement, comprising supporters of former Sokoto State Governor Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, have officially moved from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress. This transition was finalized on Wednesday following a meeting with representatives from all 23 local government areas in the state. Professor Hamza Maishanu, the movement’s chairman, explained that the decision was reached after significant deliberation and reflects a desire to support Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration, citing the governor’s effective leadership and his positive relationship with Bafarawa. Maishanu clarified that the move is a formal alignment with the APC and is not motivated by external political pressure or early planning for the 2027 elections. While Bafarawa himself maintained that he has retired from active politics and remains independent of the APC, he expressed his blessing for his followers to exercise their right to political association.
