Gombe PDP ex-guber candidate Barde defected to ADC.

Mohammad Barde, who represented the Peoples Democratic Party as its governorship candidate in Gombe State during the 2023 elections, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress. Barde, the runner-up in the previous gubernatorial race, indicated that his move is a strategic step toward contesting the 2027 general elections. Following the formalization of his new party membership, he spoke out against the declining security situation and the lack of quality infrastructure in Gombe and the nation at large, positioning the ADC as the viable alternative to solve these issues. He voiced his belief that the party’s dedication to inclusive governance and equal opportunity will foster meaningful progress. Furthermore, Barde encouraged supporters to engage in the party’s upcoming membership revalidation process as the ADC prepares for its scheduled state and national conventions in February 2026.
