Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, has criticized individuals who make fun of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s passing.
In a lengthy post on X, Fani-Kayode asserted that only God has the authority to judge any individual.
Additionally, he asserted that since Buhari has “run his race,” the trolling does not damage his reputation.
Fani-Kayode wrote: “It makes my stomach turn to see the vile and insulting things that a group of evil miscreants and evil street urchins are writing in the media regarding the death of @MBuhari.
Regardless of your feelings toward the late President—whether they were love or hate, support or opposition, reverence or hatred, or just plain indifference—one thing is certain: it is inappropriate to make fun of him while he is dead.
Making fun of someone for dying or dancing on their grave, regardless of who they are or the situation, is ignominious and reprehensible.
“God alone will judge us after we pass away and reward or condemn us according to our actions or sins; man cannot do this.
Some of us seem to have lost all sense of decency and forgotten that the deceased have friends, family, and loved ones who are suffering and trying to deal with their loss in a dignified manner.
“David eulogized and lamented King Saul, his greatest enemy, adversary, persecutor, and source of misery, rather than making fun of him when he passed away.
“He even slew the man that killed him saying that, no matter what his shortcomings may have been, Saul was still a man that had been anointed King by God and he would therefore never seek to harm him or mock him in death.
“May I remind those that are celebrating the demise and passing of President Buhari that death comes to us all. It is only a matter of time.
“I urge them to pray hard that they have the long life that he enjoyed, that they are as widely celebrated as he has been in death and that they establish as great a legacy as he did before they go to the grave.
“Those trolling his memory today will die and be buried like stray dogs with few to remember or mourn them.
“I encourage them to think about that. They will be destroyed and sent to hell because of their hatred.
More significantly, President Buhari receives absolutely nothing from their derision.
“He is loved by millions, he has gone to meet his maker, he has fought a good fight, he has established a great legacy, and he has run his course.”
“Aside from trolling people on social media and demonstrating to the world their lack of manners and intelligence, I wonder what they have accomplished in their blatantly mediocre and utterly uneventful lives?”
