The Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike’s statements that the territory will take action against people who do not support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have been denounced by the African Democratic Congress, or ADC. Wike’s declaration of “war” against anti-Tinubu candidates was characterized as dangerous and provocative by the coalition.The ADC’s national publicity secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, cautioned that such rhetoric could exacerbate political tensions and jeopardize democratic stability, stating that the Nigerian people, not President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or any minister, will decide the outcome of the elections scheduled for February 21, 2026. The ADC declared that Wike and the All Progressives Congress, or APC, are trying to scare voters, claiming that this is a reflection of their anxiety and increasing unpopularity. They also promised to fight any attempt to undermine the will of Nigerians by any legal or constitutional means.
