Plans to train 50 million Nigerians and increase the country’s digital literacy rate to 70% by 2027 have been announced by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). The action, which is a component of Nigeria’s audacious plans to fortify its digital economy, is anticipated to produce a workforce capable of fostering innovation, increasing productivity, and boosting the nation’s competitiveness in the global digital economy.The Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, stated this in Abuja at the weekend, during the closing session of the Digital Nigeria International Conference and Exhibition (DNICE 2025), themed “Innovation for a Sustainable Digital Future: Accelerating Growth and Inclusion.” He claims that the program aims to develop skills for a wide range of people by focusing on three main areas: education, the public sector, and the unorganized industry. NITDA’s strategy combines curriculum development, teacher training, civil servant capacity building, and community-based initiatives to ensure wide reach.
