Search and rescue teams discovered the bodies of two unidentified adult men on Friday within the ruins of the Great Nigeria Insurance House on Lagos Island. The fatalities follow a massive fire that began on the fourth floor of the 25-story building on Thursday before spreading to multiple levels and neighboring structures, including the Old Lagos Central Mosque. A section of the high-rise collapsed during the blaze, trapping traders under the debris. While top emergency officials have not yet issued a formal statement, a representative from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency confirmed the recoveries occurred during late-morning operations. Emergency crews remain at the Marina site to continue search efforts and secure the area.
