Olivier Giroud, the French forward, is poised to move to Ligue 1 team Lille after departing from Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer.
The 38-year-old, who boasts the record for most goals scored in France (57), played for Arsenal, Chelsea, and AC Milan before joining LAFC last year. He contributed to their first Open Cup title by scoring in the final in September.
Last week, LAFC announced Giroud’s departure, which occurred during the middle of the MLS season.
“I believe this club (Lille) meets many of my and my family’s requirements,” Giroud, who has retired from international football, told reporters on Sunday after his final match for LAFC, which ended in a 1-0 league defeat against Vancouver Whitecaps.
