National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has officially returned the final 130 abducted students and staff of St. Mary’s Catholic School to Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, following an earlier release of 100 students on December 8, 2025. During the handover ceremony in Minna, Major General Adamu Garba Laka, representing the NSA, attributed the successful recovery to a coordinated effort between the Nigerian Army, the police, and the DSS under the direction of President Bola Tinubu. The federal government reaffirmed its commitment to national safety, announcing plans to implement localized security measures in high-risk zones and reopen schools previously shut down due to violence. Governor Bago expressed deep gratitude to the presidency and security forces, noting the rare and significant achievement of recovering every single victim safely. He acknowledged the visible trauma the survivors endured but celebrated their upcoming reunion with their families.
