INEC assures NYSC members that their safety and allowance are guaranteed during the Anambra election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), through its Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, has offered a dual guarantee to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who will be working as ad hoc staff for the upcoming Anambra governorship election this Saturday.

The two main points of assurance are:

Safety and Welfare: The Chairman stated that the security of the corps members is paramount, confirming that security agencies are making arrangements, including pre-election “raking” and subsequent “mopping,” to protect all poll officials. INEC is also ensuring the corps members wear uniforms to distinguish them from partisan individuals.

Prompt Payment: Prof. Amupitan promised that the corps members’ election duty allowances will be fully and promptly paid, stating the commission has provided everything required for the Anambra election and that no one will withhold their payment.

In essence, INEC is telling its key ad hoc staff: “We’ve got your back on security, and we’ve got your money ready.”
