The Labour Party governorship candidate for Anambra State, George Moghalu, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to view the upcoming Saturday election as a critical opportunity to “redeem its image” and restore public trust.
Speaking ahead of the November 8th poll, Moghalu noted that while he grants INEC the benefit of the doubt, the commission has a clear responsibility to deliver a free, fair, and credible election in Anambra.
Regarding the volatile security situation, the candidate maintained that separatist groups like the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) do not have the power to stop the election. He instead directed his appeal to the security agencies, imploring them to be highly professional in their duties to ensure a peaceful environment that allows voters to freely exercise their right on Saturday.
In short, the message is simple: INEC needs to prove itself, and security forces must be professional to guarantee the election’s success.
