The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice presidential candidate, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has been accused by the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) of “snatching” 69 forms for various political offices in Kano, causing chaos and uncertainty for the party.
PRP State Chairman Abdulkadir Musa Guza stated, “I was in Kaduna as State Chairman of PRP to participate at the party retreat and also obtained forms for my people who were contesting various offices in Kano and who paid for them but I was told that somebody had purchased all the forms,” during a press conference at the NUJ Press Centre in Kano.
“When I pressed hard to find out who it was, the national secretary of our party told me it was Kwankwaso. When I asked why, they said we are in talks with him for his possible defection to our party,” Musa Guza continued.
He claims that after several days without any indication that Kwankwaso had defected to the PRP, it became clear that he might have been on a cunning mission against the party because one cannot be a member of one party while possessing the forms of another.
“We don’t know his missions, that is why we are telling every listening ear the situation,” the party chairman added.
The leader of the PRP voiced worry that hundreds of candidates hoping to run for office under the party are now confused and unsure of their political future.
For this reason, if he refuses to turn in our forms before INEC’s deadline for submitting contestants’ names to their office, we will take legal action against him,” he stated.
“This bad fate is not limited to our party. We have the same issues as other parties,” he continued.
