Mamman, the former Power Minister, was given a 75-year prison sentence by the court.

Former Minister of Power Saleh Mamman was sentenced to 75 years in prison by the Federal High Court in Abuja for embezzling around N33.8 billion in public funds.

The matter was filed before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC.

Mamman was charged with money laundering and conspiracy concerning monies intended for the hydroelectric power projects in Zungeru and Mambilla.

Compared to the previous stage, when the court merely dismissed his no-case petition and ordered him to open his defense, the decision represents a significant escalation.
