Anthony Sani, a former secretary general of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), declared on Wednesday that the North would elect President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
In an interview with DAILY POST, Sani stated that in order to increase its chances of regaining power in 2031, the North would support Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
“President Bola Tinubu will receive the majority votes in the North because the North hopes to produce the President in 2031 after it has been in the South for eight years,” he stated.
The former ACF scribe added that the South-East would support Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), because of what he called “the politics of zoning.”
“Igbos would not be able to vote against Peter Obi in 2027 due to identity politics known as zoning,” he stated.This is due to the fact that the President is currently in the South and is anticipated to be in the North by 2031.
Sani added that the North would not support Obi’s presidential bid because they do not believe he can serve a single term.
“The North cannot trust Peter Obi’s pledge to do only one tenure,” he continued. Furthermore, because Peter Obi has not denounced IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu, the North thinks he will play Gorbachev, who oversaw the fall of the Soviet Union.
