Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesa land, has warned merchants against selling fake goods and making arbitrary price increases.
When Eze Ndigbo people from Ijesaland, led by their leader Eze Ifeanyi Achiever, paid him a courtesy call at his palace on Wednesday, the monarch issued the warning.
Oba Haastrup emphasized that Ijesaland remained a friendly place for all citizens, regardless of origin, and reiterated his people’s hospitality to non-indigenous people.
The Ijesa paramount traditional ruler also urged the local Igbo community to keep promoting peace and unity and praised them for living in harmony with his subjects.
Ijesaland residents place a high importance on peaceful coexistence. The Owa Obokun said, “I commend you for the cordial relationship with our people and encourage you to sustain it.”
However, he called for unity and reconciliation among the various groups and denounced the creation of parallel associations and titles within the Igbo community.
Speaking directly to traders, the king cautioned against taking advantage of customers by raising prices unnecessarily or selling counterfeit goods, which he said was bad for both buyers and sellers.
“You must refrain from exploiting the public by raising prices or offering inferior goods. He warned that trust and enduring relationships depend on fair trade.
Eze Ndigbo, Ifeanyi Achiever promised in his speech that the Igbo people of Ijesaland would remain faithful to the Owa Obokun Adimula’s throne.Eze Achiever praised Oba Haastrup’s leadership, pointing out that Ijesaland had been marked by peace and swift change ever since the king was installed and crowned.
