Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied accusations made by The Osun Masterminds (TOM), a coalition of civil society organizations, that his administration is neglecting its duties in favor of preparations for the 2026 governorship election.
The group, in its November State-of-the-State address presented by its Executive Director, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, claimed that the government has abandoned critical responsibilities in its quest for political advantage.
Oyedokun-Alli asserted that governance in the state has suffered significantly, with the governor rarely visible or audible as groundwork for next year’s election increases.
He also criticized the halted recruitment of teachers, calling the delay a broken promise that was simply dismissed.
The group further expressed worries about what it referred to as a leadership problem within the Osun Amotekun Corps, arguing that the security outfit’s decreased operational capacity is happening at a dangerous time due to the overall rise in insecurity across the nation.
While acknowledging that 2026 is an election year, TOM insisted that the administration must continue to execute its mandate until its last day in power.
The group stated, “It is unacceptable to sacrifice governance for the sake of political convenience,” urging state officials to focus on the public service for which they receive payment.
Responding via his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke rejected the claims, characterizing TOM as a group financed by the APC and motivated by undisclosed intentions.
Rasheed accused Prof. Oyedokun-Alli of misrepresenting the facts, claiming that his recent political aspirations, including an unsuccessful attempt to join the South West Development Commission, have undermined his impartiality.
The statement said: “Governance in Osun is proceeding smoothly, and those preoccupied with the 2026 political landscape are the backers and sponsors of TOM.”
He added that no level of deliberate misinformation or inconsistent stories would persuade Osun residents to revert to what he termed a difficult past, advising citizens to remain cautious of organizations that use civic platforms for self-interest.
