Plans to educate stakeholders on Nigeria’s Blue Economy Policy have been revealed by the International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION).
The program will take place at the IMION Auditorium, NNS QUORRA, Harbour Road Apapa, Lagos, on April 15–17, 2026.
The Nigerian Navy founded the institute with the goal of assembling a notable staff of experts under the direction of Prof. Comfort Etok, a distinguished scholar and former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
During the three-day executive program on Nigeria’s Blue Economy Policy, Barr. (Mrs.) Mfon Usoro and Mrs. Funke Agbor, SAN, the former president of the Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA), served as additional facilitators.
A capstone session centered on creating a Strategic Policy Implementation Brief will conclude the program, which will also address sustainability and governance imperatives, he said.He emphasized that, at a time when Nigeria is stepping up efforts to unlock the value of its marine resources, the caliber of facilitators indicates its commitment to providing useful, policy-relevant insights capable of fueling the country’s blue economy objectives.
The foundations of the blue economy, Nigeria’s policy and regulatory environment, priority sectors and investment possibilities, as well as important policy problems, will all be covered in a comprehensive curriculum, he added.
