Under the guise of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, a support group for former presidential candidate Rabi’u Kwankaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) has attacked Hakeem Baba Ahmed, the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Ahmed’s assertion that Obi and Kwankwaso demanded a PRP presidential ticket has drawn criticism.
According to Baba Ahmed, Kwankwaso and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi were unable to join the PRP prior to the 2027 general elections because they desired presidential tickets, which they were not granted.
Habeeb Saleh Mohammed, the spokesperson for the Kwankwasiyya Movement, responded by rejecting Baba-Ahmed’s claims and claiming he was merely looking for attention.
Beyond the public appeal, Mohammed continued, he was not aware of any official gathering where such demands were made.
He insisted that neither Kwankwaso nor Peter Obi had ever approached the PRP to request a presidential ticket, as far as he was aware.
“Well, I think every Nigerian who truly understands the situation will tell you that the PRP made an appeal on national television through its national chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, asking Peter Obi and my principal, as well as members of the coalition, to move into the PRP,” he stated.
