Rector supports Oloyede despite UTME issues

Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, the rector of Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, has conveyed to Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, the institution’s support and solidarity regarding the recent issues that arose during the administration of this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Remember how the 2025 UTME was a huge failure? It was estimated that around 380,000 candidates took the test due to technical issues.

Oloyede openly mourned and acknowledged the regrettable event that occurred last week, promising the impacted applicants that JAMB will give them another chance to take the test.

Although the situation was indeed unfortunate, Oluseye said in a letter to Oloyede on Wednesday that the institution valued the JAMB Registrar’s bravery, openness, humility, dedication to truth, and integrity in resolving the contentious matter.

The rector urged the Registrar not to be depressed but to keep on the path of honor, integrity, professionalism, and strong character that have made him a distinguished scholar, saying that the polytechnic stands by him during this difficult time and will continue to be inspired by his patriotic leadership.

Oluseye explained that, “While the incident was regrettable, we appreciate your recent action of acknowledging the glitches encountered in some of the centres which is a testament to your rare transparency, courage, humility and commitment to truth and integrity.

“In fact, it is a reminder that true leaders must be courageous enough to confront challenges with openness and sense of responsibility. This, you demonstrated, and we are immensely proud of you.

“Your efforts to maintain transparency and fairness are highly commendable. Despite the challenges, I must affirm that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board continues to play a crucial role in shaping the academic future of Nigerian students.

Because we have seen your leadership of the Board over the years and find you to be exemplary in every way, Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa stands by you in solidarity at this time. We therefore encourage you to continue on the path of industry, honor, and professionalism for which you are well-known.

Our prayer is that God will continue to lead and guide your endeavors.
While wishing you continued strength and God’s wisdom at all times, please accept our best regards.”
