According to Sam Amadi, director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has not yet announced Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister of transportation, as his running mate.
Nigerians, according to Amadi, are waiting for him to formally declare Amadi as his running mate for president.
“@atiku is yet to publicly name @ChibuikeAmaechi as his VP,” Amadi wrote in a post on X. Perhaps he will do so as soon as possible. We anticipate hearing from him as soon as possible.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, was announced by the ADC on Monday as Atiku’s running mate for president in the general elections of 2027.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the spokesman for the ADC, announced in a statement that Amaechi had been selected as Atiku’s running mate.
According to Abdullahi, Amaechi was selected following lengthy discussions with pertinent parties.
It should be noted, though, that the former vice president has not yet announced Amaechi as his running mate.
