Despite expressing regret for his recent remarks to the media, helsea manager Liam Rosenior has stated that Enzo Fernandez will not play against Manchester City.
The Argentine was benched for Sunday’s Premier League game against City and last weekend’s FA Cup contest against Port Vale.
His remarks regarding his future during the international break were the reason for this sentence.
Although Fernandez and his agent apologized to the club after first criticizing the sentence, the penalty is still in place.
“I’ve had three or four really terrific conversations with Enzo. After a crucial game on Sunday, we’ll address his apology to me and the team,” Rosenior stated.
For Enzo, the meeting is about something very important. Every step of the way, I have stated that I have no doubts about Enzo’s personality or his character. People make mistakes, and you can’t go too far in punishing them, in my opinion.
“We’ve imposed a penalty. We came to a decision, I made a decision, and I want Enzo to continue on and have a fantastic career.
“No, he is not going to play on Sunday. But hopefully, he will play a significant role in the group going forward after that. I won’t discuss the remaining obstacles that must be surmounted. However, I also want each player to be really focused.
