Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have successfully thwarted a robbery attempt, freed kidnapped travelers, and seized weapons in a series of separate operations conducted in Taraba State.
The information, released to journalists on Monday by the acting Brigade spokesperson, Lt. Umar Muhammad, details incidents that occurred on December 6, 2025, in various parts of the state.
Robbery Thwarted and Arms Recovered
On December 6, 2025, soldiers stationed in Manya responded to an emergency call reporting that armed robbers had blocked the Manya–Takum Road and were robbing travelers. The military launched a quick “clearance operation,” compelling the criminals to flee and abandon their arms. The troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, and three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. This swift intervention restored safety and traffic flow on the route.
Kidnapped Travelers Rescued
In Kufai Amadu, Takum Local Government Area, troops rescued two men who had been abducted. The kidnapping occurred after four travelers from Bauchi State, who were seeking directions to Baissa in Kurmi Local Government, were seized inside Amadu Town.
Preliminary investigations revealed that two of the victims, identified as Mr. Musa Danji and Mr. Yusuf, were taken by their captors toward New City. Coordinated searches led to the escape and subsequent rescue of two others, Mr. Yusuf Musa and Mr. Muhammed Umar. Search efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining hostages, and the military is intensifying its hunt for the abductors.
Weapons Seized and Suspects Arrested
Troops in Iware, Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, also recovered weapons and detained two suspects during an intelligence-led operation on December 6th in Garin Sambo, Tau Village. Soldiers seized two pump-action guns, 13 cartridges, two motorcycles, and four mobile phones. Two men, Baba Wura Sambo and Mallam Adamu Darda, were arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of arms and, along with the recovered items, remain in military custody for further investigation.
Brigade Commander’s Commendation
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the soldiers’ quick response and professional conduct. He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to continuing aggressive operations to dismantle criminal networks across Taraba State, assuring both residents and commuters of increased security throughout the Yuletide season. He concluded by urging the public to remain alert and provide timely, reliable information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security.
