UCL: Outstanding – Rooney commends Rashford following Aston Villa’s victory over PSG

Following Aston Villa’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal match on Tuesday, Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney has given forward Marcus Rashford particular recognition.

Rooney claimed that during the match at Villa Park between Aston Villa and the French Ligue 1 winners, the England international was outstanding.

But when Rashford eventually makes it back to Old Trafford at the end of the season, he was urged to repeat his performance against PSG for Manchester United.

Rashford, who is now on loan from Manchester United to Aston Villa, played a key role in Unai Emery’s team’s 3-2 victory over PSG at home after they rallied from a 2-0 deficit.

Unfortunately, Aston Villa’s 3-1 loss in the first leg last week in Paris prevented them from reaching the Champions League semi-final stage.

With a 5–4 aggregate victory, PSG advanced to the semi-finals and will play either Real Madrid or Arsenal in the last four.

On Amazon Prime’s coverage, Rooney stated, “They were on the front foot, PSG were rocked, they were rattled, and Villa were going for them.”

“I must say that Marcus Rashford deserves a huge shout-out. I felt the Rashford we’ve seen over the years was amazing.

His talent, his ability to drive at players, his skill, and his awareness to recover the ball.

“The atmosphere changes when this goal is scored, and the Villa players start to believe they can win the match again.”

“I hope he returns to Manchester United and performs like he did today,” he continued.
