The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) publicly stated that it fully supports all the programs and policies implemented by former Governor Godwin Obaseki during his term.
In a statement issued by Publicity Secretary Dan Osa-Ogbegie, the PDP declared its unequivocal stand with Obaseki, emphasizing that it will not permit those who did not contribute to the state’s progress to undermine the former Governor’s legacy. The party supports Obaseki because he governed with courage, protected the state’s treasury, uplifted the people, and resisted the demands of political godfathers, asserting that history and the Edo people will vindicate him.
The PDP also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to control members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, alleging that the conduct of the new Governor, Monday Okpebholo, and his team is dangerously overheating the political environment and could lead to major conflict if not immediately curbed. The party argued that the APC members’ politics are driven by bitterness and vendetta rather than a vision for service.
