The Concerned Muslim Stakeholders and League of Alfas in Osun State have faulted what they described as the needless involvement of pressure groups, royal fathers and religious leaders in the ongoing debate over local government allocations in the state.
Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre, Osogbo, on Tuesday, the group said a statement by the League of Imams and Alfas, Osun State Chapter, calling on President Bola Tinubu to order the release of the state’s allocations, was misleading.
According to the statement signed jointly by Sheikh Khozeem AbdulRaham, President and Mallam AbdulGaniyy Sahid Esra, Secretary General, “the release by the League of Imams and Alfas led by Alhaji Imam Musa Animasahun is not only false, misleading, unfair, illegal, unlawful but also a product of failure to ground an investigation before taking a position”.
The group questioned the June 13, 2025, Court of Appeal ruling, claiming that it caused confusion by acknowledging elections that were simultaneously rejected. It warned that such contradictions could cause a state to descend into chaos and violence.
In order to “make a balanced position and thereby avoid public embarrassment,” it also counseled the state’s traditional rulers to carry out in-depth research before making public pronouncements.
The League of Imams and Alfas was charged in the statement with losing their impartiality and becoming “a religious mouthpiece of the Governor Ademola Adeleke led-Peoples Democratic Party.”
