In Benue, a kidnapped groom is freed.

Tartenger Terdue James has been released by his captors in Benue State after his family provided a ransom payment. James was abducted last Tuesday while on a trip to Cross River State to buy supplies for his traditional wedding, which had been set for December 13, 2025. Following his return to his family early Tuesday morning, he shared that he was let go around 2:00 a.m. Relatives noted that while the kidnappers originally sought 3 million Naira, they agreed to free him after receiving a payment of approximately 1.5 million Naira. He was eventually left at a location in the Vandeikya Local Government Area, ending a traumatic week for his family. Official confirmation from the Benue State Police Command was unavailable at the time of reporting as the spokesperson did not respond to inquiries.
