After ten years in charge of the continental financial institution, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina of Nigeria, the previous president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), handed the reins to his successor, Sidi Ould Tah, earlier this week, according to Weekend Trust.
Unquestionably, Adesina, a former Nigerian minister of agriculture and rural development, has made a lasting impact on the AfDB by increasing financial access and reviving member nations, particularly the continent’s poorest nations.
For Adesina, who was minister from 2010 to 2015 before being elected to the AfDB, leaving the organization after two five-year terms was seen as a rewarding experience. He began his highly eventful stint in September 2015.
