General Olufemi Oluyede, who is Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, or CDS, guaranteed that the Armed Forces will increase their efforts to stop terrorism in Nigeria.
General Oluyede provided this assurance quickly following a meeting he had with the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, on Monday.
He stated that despite the claim made by US President Donald Trump, there is not any Christian persecution in Nigeria.
BASEMEDIA news organization reports that Trump had designated Nigeria a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ based on claims of Christian genocide in the nation.
In response, the defence chief said: “No Christian persecution exists in Nigeria. I want to promise Nigerians that, moving ahead, we will intensify our current actions to contain this act of terrorism in Nigeria.”
