Security officers from the Department of State Services (DSS) have successfully arrested a man described as a notorious bandit during a sudden operation in Bojinji Village, on the outskirts of Bauchi.
During the raid, the team recovered millions of naira in cash and several rounds of ammunition.
The suspect had reportedly relocated to Bauchi from Zamfara State, where he claimed to be running from persecution, and settled in Bojinji Village with his family. Security officials note that while Bauchi often receives displaced persons, criminal elements exploit this movement to hide their activities.
The operation was conducted without warning, surprising residents. A security source revealed that the DSS “traced the suspect’s illicit wealth and movements” before executing the raid. Investigations showed the suspect was locally known for living an extravagant lifestyle, frequently spending large amounts of money on alcohol at Unguwar Yelwan Angas and buying drinks for others, yet no one suspected him of criminal activity until the DSS intervention.
Security officials are now calling on residents to practice vigilance by reporting anyone whose lifestyle appears suspicious or far beyond their legitimate means, as this is crucial to exposing hidden criminal networks. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the suspect’s operations and whether he had any accomplices in the state.
