A Kano State High Court sentenced 22-year-old Najibullah Alkasim to death by hanging for killing his neighbor, Isyaku Ya’u, during an argument in 2024. Justice Farida Dabappa delivered the judgment on Monday, ruling that the prosecution successfully proved the charge of culpable homicide beyond reasonable doubt. The prosecution confirmed that the incident occurred on January 19, 2024, in Dawakin Dakata, Kano. The Judge concluded that Alkasim intentionally caused the victim’s death by stabbing him in the chest with a screwdriver, and therefore issued the death sentence.
