Widespread rumors that Governor Agbu Kefas has given some political candidates automatic tickets ahead of the upcoming general elections have been refuted by the Taraba State Government.
The government called the allegations “false, baseless, and misleading” and insisted that the governor had not made any such promises in a statement released on Friday in Jalingo by Josiah Sabo Kente, Special Adviser on Political Matters and Special Duties.The statement claims that Kefas is still dedicated to democratic ideals, stressing justice, equal chance for all candidates, and internal party democracy.
The statement stated, “His Excellency has never promised automatic tickets to any individual or group.”
According to Kente, the explanation also supports the stance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) state chapter.The State Chairman, Abubakar Bawa, restated that the party has no provision for automatic tickets, reiterating its commitment to a transparent and credible selection process”, Kente said.
The administration stated that a formal reaction was required since the rumors had caused needless friction among candidates, party members, and the general public.
Additionally, stakeholders were advised to ignore the assertions and refrain from disseminating unconfirmed material that would jeopardize party unity.The statement reiterated the administration’s aims and stated that, as election preparations proceed, Governor Kefas will continue to support legal and democratic procedures inside the party.
Additionally, the government urged candidates and supporters to maintain composure, unity, and dedication to the party’s principles.
