Despite having a lower ceiling than Manchester City, Michael Owen, a former forward for Manchester United and Liverpool, has predicted Arsenal will win the Premier League this season. The former striker for Real Madrid and Stoke City stated that Arsenal’s defense would be crucial to winning the championship after 22 years of waiting. Arsenal leads Manchester City by four points heading into the international break. Fans and commentators have predicted that City will push Arsenal for the Premier League trophy because they are once again looking their best. “Arsenal’s defense is their strength,” Owen stated on Premier League Productions. “They have an excellent goalie and a strong, well-protected back-four.” They don’t give up many goals and play to their strengths.Owen responded, “Maybe, they are a fair few points ahead,” when asked if the Premier League title was “Arsenal’s to lose.” Anyone will likely tell you that Arsenal is currently the favorite and that defeating them will require a strong effort. They are so effective that I don’t see them losing many points. Although there is pressure to lead the race, they play with such efficiency. I believe Arsenal is still likely the third-best team even if Man City, Liverpool, and Arsenal all perform at their very best. Both Man City and Liverpool are capable of blowing anyone off the field when everyone is playing at their peak.
