After experiencing chronic pain and limited movement, golf legend Tiger Woods disclosed that he just had surgery to replace a disc in his lower back. The 15-time major winner is still battling chronic health issues, and this New York procedure is his eighth back surgery in 11 years. “The scans revealed that I had a collapsed disc in L4/5, disc fragments, and a compromised spinal canal,” Woods wrote on social media. I already know that I made the right choice for my back and my health when I decided to have my disc replaced yesterdayWoods did not say how long it will take him to recuperate, but it is still unclear if he will participate in the HeroWorld Challenge in the Bahamas or the PNC Championship with his son Charlie, both of which are set for December. This is the year’s most successful surgery; in March, he underwent another treatment after rupturing his left Achilles tendon, and it’s his second back surgery in a little more than a year. The golf legend’s incredible recovery, which included winning the 2018 Tour Championship and his 15th major championship at the 2019 Masters, was made possible by his lowerback being fused in 2017 after he had originally undergone back surgery in 2014. Woods has only participated in 15 events since his automobile accident in 2021, which left him with severe injuries to his right leg and ankle. Four of those events were at the PNC Championship, where he was allowed to use a cart.
