Governor Uba Sani is a good representative of the Renewed Hope Agenda, according to the Kaduna State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, which released N4.289 billion to pay gratuities, death benefits, and accrued rights for its members.
The union stated that the action “has not only put smiles on the faces of pensioners but has gone a step further in renewing their hope on all other pending entitlements” in a letter of gratitude signed by State Executive Chairman Aboman Ladan and Secretary Alhassan Balarabe Musa.
Governor Uba Sani authorized the release of N4.289 billion last week to compensate retired civil servants and the families of workers who have passed away across State and Local Government services.
The approval covers payments to 1,637 beneficiaries under the Defined Benefit Scheme (Gratuities and Death Benefits) and the Contributory Pension Scheme (Accrued Rights).
1,392 pensioners will receive N3,915,000,000 under the Contributory Pension Scheme, and 245 beneficiaries will receive N374,000,000 after payment.
The union stated that “many of our members who have patiently waited for years have found great relief and renewed hope as a result of the timely intervention.” Your Excellency’s action has lifted the burden of many grieving families and restored their trust in the government.
We sincerely appreciate your empathy and your administration’s commitment to senior citizen welfare. The retirees wrote, “You truly are an Ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
However, the letter reminded Governor Uba Sani of unpaid obligations because some pensioners, particularly the elderly, have not yet received their benefits.
With reference number NUP/KDS/HQ/VOL 2/25 and dated April 16, 2026, the letter conveyed confidence in the Governor’s ability to settle all pension obligations given his good intentions and performance history.
Recall that as of last week’s announcement, Governor Uba Sani has benefited 8,344 retirees and the families of workers who have passed away by paying a total of N17.796 billion since taking office.
